Hello All!!!
I'm starting this blog thing to share what keeps me entertained, organized and most of all SANE! I decided to share something that has really REALLY REEEAAAALLLLLYY struck my fancy as of late ADULT COLORING BOOKS!!! I love them! So I decided to share some that have really impressed me.
As soon as I get into Hobby Lobby I have a tractor beam that strikes me like I'm trying to escape from the death star or something lol There's a brand of books under the brand name Creative Haven and while their single books are a bit pricey (I've paid between $6-$9 for a single book) they have a collection of four books in one that are usually around $16 & that's a GREAT deal because these books are huge. As a matter of fact, unless you develop a sick fascination with collecting them, like I have, then you won't have to buy another book for a while. The books are large and have a good mix of really detailed pictures that take me a few days, but that may just be because I've got crap for hand eye coordination (Thank you Multiple Sclerosis!!!!) and some that aren't as detailed that can be completed in a night.
The Pictures are really beautiful and there's a few I've worked on with the intent of framing. They've got a TON of subjects that I've seen from Mystic mandalas to dreamscapes to old fashioned hand fans (one of my personal favorites). They are printed only on one side of the paper and the paper stock is really nice and thick so there's not really any chance of coloring thru even if you use marker but I tear them out or use another piece of paper between the one I'm drawing on and the one underneath just in case. I've also found them at Hobby Lobby, Michael's and I even thought I saw one at Walmart but I think that may have been a fluke because I've never seen another one.
On a personal side note, I am a recovering addict and have found these fans to be FANTASTIC for clearing my mind and relaxation when I'm feeling a bit stressed. I've also shared these books with the director of my out patient treatment clinic and we have "art groups" where we sit around coloring during our group therapy sessions.
Next time be on the look out for a review of the nifty gel pens I picked up from big lots for a STEAL!!!
Alright, I'm off to nerd out and color with my kids!
See y'all on the dark side!!!

  1. I have one too hon, got it last year and only started on the koi fish kaliedescope-type pic and I was too OCD in my technique so I put it down and haven't picked it up since! However my sister and mama got one this year for Christmas so we can ALL color with my niece and nephews and I vow to try to zone out (Hahah love your "nerd out") this time and just go with the flow instead of doing only one color at a time then switching and trying to use it everywhere I will use it I mean how can someone turn COLORING into a stressful activity? Ask me I figured out a way~! LOL!~ Anyway I may have to take some of my anti-anxiety meds first and see if that helps...heehee I had to comment as I'm totally happy to see that you have a blog and I love it and want to support it! BIG HUGS TO YOU AND YOUR SWEETIE-PIE BABY GIRL! She's as cute as a button!
